Ballia: A massive fire broke out in multiple electronic shops in Vasundhara Market at Station Malgodam Road in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. Five tenders are present at the spot.

The cause of fire has not been ascertained as of yet. Fire fighting operations are underway.

Earlier in the day, at least eight persons were killed and three others seriously injured in an explosion at a firecracker factory in Budaun district of the state.

Budaun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashok Kumar said, “At around 4.00 pm, there was an explosion in a licensed firecracker factory in Rasulpur village under the Civil Lines police station.”

Sub-divisional magistrate of Badaun Parasnath Maurya said the deceased have been identified as Guddu Sharma (23), Sher Singh (55), Ramesh (30), Sanju (34), Pannalal (41), Yameen (42) and Satish (24).

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took immediate cognizance of the explosion and directed the district magistrate of Badaun to take all necessary steps to provide relief to the injured.

A fire broke out in a leather factory in Kanpur’s Jajmau area. In another earlier incident in Meerut, a fire broke out in Kinauni sugar mill after one of its distilleries exploded.

In April, a massive fire broke out at a paints shop in Mutthiganj area of Allahabad (now Prayagraj). No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
