Lucknow, November 1: Uttar Pradesh panchayat elections brought smile on the faces of the supporters of Asadduddin Owaisi as All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) made its electoral debut on Monday. For AIMIM, the victory in UP is of more significance as the party was eyeing on the upcoming 2017 assembly election which is scheduled in 2017. Though there were not any official announcement made by the election commission officials, however the party spokesperson said that Kailash Gautam of Masoodiya from Pawai Block (Number 32) in Azamgarh has won.

The party had fielded 50 candidates from 18 districts in the panchayat polls.

Moreover the Bharatiya Janata Party, lost 50 seats out of 58 in Varanasi, which is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency.

Panchayat polls are not fought on party symbols but the contestants always are always influenced or backed by some political leaders. Uttar Pradesh Panchayat elections is seen as a net practice for AIMIM who is eyeing on Uttar Pradesh for 2017 assembly elections, however the party has to come with more plans to form a stronghold in countries biggest constituency with one of highest number of Muslim population.

The Bahujan Samaj Party on Monday won the UP Panchayat polls, while BJP and SP faced a huge setback.
