Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court, Ramesh Ranganathan, had a near-death experience on Saturday when he went to offer prayers at Sangam in Devprayag district of Uttarakhand. Justice Ranganathan was visiting the Sangam site (literally meaning a confluence) with his wife, where the rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi meet to form Ganga. He went to Lord Shri Raghunath Temple in the morning and reached Sangam later. As he stepped a level down to offer his prayers, his feet suddenly slipped and he stumbled and nearly drowned into the river. Ranganathan is the current Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court. He had earlier served as the acting Chief Justice in Hyderabad High Court for 13 and a half years.
