Mukesh Ambani has been a regular visitor of Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham and he had, a couple of years ago, even proposed to the BKTC to assist with the beautification and the upkeep of the two holy places.
Ambani visits the holy shrines everytime something important comes up in his family. Last year, he offered prayers at Kedarnath and Badrinath and sought the blessings of the presiding deities at the famous Himalayan shrines for his daughter who was getting married in December.
The Reliance Industries Ltd chairman first visited Kedarnath, dedicated to Lord Shiva, and spent around 15 minutes there offering prayers, Badrinath-Kedarnath Mandir Samiti PRO Harish Gaud said.
Ambani also placed the invitation card of his daughter’s marriage amid the offerings made at the two temples, he said.
Ambani has also been regularly providing financial help to the temple committee.
In 2016, he donated Rs 1.5 crore to the BKTC. Of that amount, Rs 64 lakh was to be provided for saffron and sandalwood used in pujas in the shrines. The remaining Rs 90 lakh was for the development of Sanskrit Schools.
With the Rs 90 lakh donation, Sanskrit schools under temple committee were to set up libraries, adding books related to Sanskrit literature, history, religion etc.
Meanwhile, local media also reported that apart from this decision, CM Rawat has also accorded various positions to over a dozen politicians. Those given Cabinet Minister rank included former MP Balraj Passi and BJP State vice president Jyoti Prasad Gairola.
