New Delhi, May 11: Following the thumping 33-28 win over BJP on the floor of the house in Uttarakhand Assembly, politicos reacted sharply. Ones supporting the beleaguered chief minister Harish Rawat called it a win of democracy while BJP kept mum on the issue. The only reaction came from Union minister Venkaiah Naidu, who confirmed centre’s move to lift President’s Rule in Uttarakhand with immediate effect. ” We have decided to recommend revocation of President’s rule in Uttarakhand, to President,” Naidu said.

Earlier in the day, Supreme Court declared the results of the floor test to ascertain who will form the government. Congress was declared winner following a drama that went on for over a month. According to Mukesh Giri, Special counsel for Uttarakhand speaker informed that the apex court has asked centre to place on record order of revoking the proclamation of President’s rule. But sharp reactions came from Congress Member of Parliament Ahmed Patel, who took on BJP for following unfair and undemocratic ways to destabilise the state government. “Even after trying every trick in book to topple Opposition states, (Narendra) Modi Sarkar has been brought to its knees. It’s a victory of democracy,” Patel said soon after the Supreme Court verdict came that ordered in favour of Rawat.

Patel though felt that the Uttarakhand issue has taught BJP a lesson and highlighted the power of democracy. “Uttarakhand has taught BJP a bitter lesson. No matter how hard they try they can neither intimidate Congress nor subvert democracy,” Patel said.

Meanwhile, the victory has given Congress a big edge while BJP was left red-faced following the floor test. Quite naturally, Congress supporters gathered in front of Rawat residence in Dehra Dun and burst crackers and danced chanting slogans.
