New Delhi: In a horrifying case reported from Uttarakhand’s Haridwar, a man allegedly first killed a six-year-old and then raped her corpse before dumping the body.

The accused is a labourer and lived in the same village as the victim. According to the police, the accused is a married man with two children.

Reportedly, the girl was playing with her friends, including his son (7) when he ushered her to sit with him under the shade of a tree.

Forensic reports suggest that the murder preceded the rape.

The police say that the accused’s seven-year-old son played a crucial role in helping them crack the case- as he told them that it was his father who approached the girl and asked her to sit with him under the banyan tree.

The police say that the accused has confessed to his crime and a case has now been registered under the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
