New Delhi, Feb 16: A woman who posed as a man and tied the knot with two women from Uttarakhand’s Nainital district in a span of three years has now been arrested after the first wife filed a complaint of dowry harassment against her. The woman  identified as Krishna Sen, alias Sweety Sen hailed from Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district.

During police interrogation, the woman confessed to her crime saying she used to indulge in a physical relationship with her ‘wives’ in pitch darkness by using sex toys ordered through online sites.

Speaking to Indian Express,  Nainital SSP Janmejay Khanduri said that in 2013 Krishna Sen created a fake Facebook profile to get in touch with women. She had shared various photos in a man’s attire

In 2014, Sen and her family members travelled to Kathgodam in Uttarakhand to meet a 22-year-old woman he got to know on Facebook. “Sen had convinced her that she was a man. The two married the same year and started living in a rented house in Nainital district’s Haldwani town, but Sen soon started assaulting the woman for dowry,” Khanduri added.

In year 2016, Sen tied the knot with another woman who hailed from Kaladhungi area of Nainital district and moved to Haridwar with her.

Last year in October, Sen’s first wife lodged a complaint against Sen in Kathgodam police station under charges of dowry and domestic violence. She accused him of taking Rs 8.5 lakh from her family, saying that she needed the money for a factory she owned in Haridwar.

Sen, who was absconding, was nabbed by Kathgodam police and was taken into custody on Wednesday. During interrogation, she revealed that she was a woman. B L Vishwakarma, SHO, Kathgodam police station said that during medical examination (on Wednesday evening) and it was confirmed that Sen was a woman.

On Wednesday evening, the woman was sent to Haldwani jail. She has been booked on charges of impersonation, fraud and forgery.
