Vasan Eye Care, an ASG hospital, is gearing up for a free glaucoma test camp commemorating World Glaucoma Week 2025. On the 11th of March, Vasan Eye Care’s Anna Nagar branch in Madurai will be conducting free eye check-up with 50% concession on HFA, OCT eye examinations.
World Glaucoma Week is a global initiative organized by the World Glaucoma Association. During this week, patients, eye care providers, health officials and the public join forces in organizing awareness activities worldwide. Glaucoma is the leading cause of preventable but irreversible blindness. The goal is to raise awareness about glaucoma, the world’s second leading cause of blindness. It emphasises on the importance of regular eye check-ups and early detection and diagnosis, which can significantly improve the prognosis for people affected by glaucoma. The WHO recognizes World Glaucoma Week as a critical period in educating people about the risks of glaucoma and the importance of early detection.
The theme for this year’s World Glaucoma Week is “Uniting for a Glaucoma-Free World”, and the week is intended to bring people together in this fight against blindness caused by glaucoma.
Eye hospitals and clinics across the world conduct awareness campaigns during this week, with many organising free eye exam camps for surrounding communities.
