New Delhi, December 23: The Winter Session of the Parliament got adjourned sine die after continuous disruptions from the Opposition on Wednesday. On one side the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party government blamed the Opposition for a washed out session and wasting people’s money, Congress reiterated that the central government is responsible for the loss as major issues were not discussed.
Soon after the Parliament was adjourned by the Vice President Hamid Ansari, Union Parliamentary Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that Congress should give an explanation on why their leaders didn’t let temple of democracy to function. He also slammed the MPs from Congress for creating a chaos on the National Herald Case, which took place in 2012 and the Parliament was held hostage in 2015. He said, “The nation needs to be given an explanation by Congress as to why they didn’t let Rajya Sabha function. The Congress feels threatened by PM Modi and the government. They want to sabotage parliament and democracy.”
While on the other hand, Leader of Opposition in the Upper House Ghulam Nabi Azad said that in order to let the Parliament function, the BJP will have to give up the politics of vendetta and arrogance. He also said that despite having a huge mandate, the National Democratic Alliance were unable to run the parliament. Azad said, “Despite having huge mandate, the NDA have been unable to run the Parliament. They have to give up the politics of vendetta and arrogance in order to run the Parliament.” He was referred to Central government’s agenda on India-Pakistan relations and took a jibe by sating that earlier BJP didn’t want to talk with Pakistan, but now they are eating Biryani with them.
Briefing to the media about the Winter Session, Naidu said that in this Session the Lok Sabha passed 14 Bills, but due to the disruptions created by the Congress, only 9 Bills got passed in Rajya Sabha. He also alleged that due to the stalling of Sessions consequently, the productivity was hampered of the Parliament. Naidu added that there should be a nationwide discussion and campaign against disruption of Parliament by a particular party.
