New Delhi, July 15: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to announce its Vice President candidate in the next two days as Hamid Ansari’s term is nearing an end in August. The Narendra Modi-led centre did not rush to announce the name like it did for the Presidential poll that is to be held on July 17. A report published by One India says that BJP feels its nomiee will easily clinch the V-P poll on August 5.
The Opposition, this time, did not delay its announcement and have put forward the name of Gopal Krishna Gandhi. On the other hand, the saffron party has held meetings with RSS functionaries Bhaiyyaji Joshi and Krishna Gopal to finalise a name. Apart from the discussion on coming up with a VP nominee, the BJP also discussed carious issues with Joshi and Gopal. Few minds of BJP feel that in the V-P election their candidate will gain easy victory as they are backed with good numbers in the Lower (Lok Sabha) and Upper House (Rajya Sabha).
The right wing ideological party at the Centre is also confident of their President nominee winning the election as Ram Nath Kovind-the nominee- has got backing not only from the NDA but from political rivals like BJD, JD (U)and two factions of AIADMK. The BJP and its think tank RSS is looking for a candidate who can run Rajya Sabha as it has had its own issues in the Upper House of the Parliament. Besides this, the party at the Centre is eyeing a candidate who can adapt their core values. A source of the saffron wing told One India that the party might pick someone from inside.
