Vice Presidential Election: Whose game will BJD, BRS, Akali Dal who were out of voting make and whose will they spoil?

Vice Presidential Election: The contest for the Vice Presidential election is between NDA’s CP Radhakrishnan and India Block’s B Sudarshan Reddy. But just before the voting, BJD, BRS and Akali Dal have distanced themselves from the voting, what will be its political impact? Voting for the Vice Presidential election will be held on Tuesday (today). Just before the voting, BJD, BRS and Akali Dal have announced to stay away from voting, due to which the contest has become very interesting.

After former Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik’s party BJD and former Telangana CM KCR’s BRS, Punjab’s Shiromani Akali Dal has also distanced itself from the Vice Presidential election. These three parties have announced that they will neither support NDA’s Radhakrishnan nor vote for ‘India’ block’s Sudarshan Reddy. Due to this, changes in the win-loss statistics are certain. These 3 parties have a total of 14 MPs. In such a situation, the question arises that who will be affected by this and whose ‘number game’ will be spoiled?

BRS has 4 Rajya Sabha MPs, Biju Janata Dal has 7 Rajya Sabha MPs and Shiromani Akali Dal has one Lok Sabha and 2 Rajya Sabha MPs. All three parties have asked their MPs to stay away from voting.

What will be the political impact of the distance between the three parties?

• The combined number of MPs of BJD, BRS and Akali Dal is 14. At present, there are 542 MPs in Lok Sabha and 239 MPs in Rajya Sabha. Thus, the total number of members in both the houses is 781, according to which a candidate needs the support of at least 391 MPs to win.
• Due to the three parties keeping away from voting, the first impact will be on the ‘number game’. In this way, the number of MPs in both the houses has now remained at 767. Support of at least 384 MPs is required for victory.
• All three parties are from the opposition, but have been close to the government for the last 11 years. They have stood with the Modi government in every crisis. Akali Dal has been a part of the NDA, but BJD and BRS have been supporting it despite not being in the alliance.
• He also supported NDA’s Jagdeep Dhankhar in the 2022 Vice Presidential election. Keeping away from voting in this election will affect the margin of victory of NDA. On the other hand, it is also being considered a political setback for the opposition.
• Congress garnered the support of Mamta Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal by nominating a non-political face like former Supreme Court Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, but could not keep the entire opposition united. Not winning the trust of Akali Dal along with BJD and BRS clearly shows that all three opposition parties are still keeping a distance from Congress.
• NDA has the support of a total of 425 MPs in both the houses. YSRCP has supported NDA candidate Radhakrishnan, after which NDA now has the votes of 436 MPs. If we look at the statistics, the victory of the NDA candidate is certain. At the same time, opposition candidate B. Sudarshan Reddy is getting 324 votes. In this way, the difference of 112 votes for victory is clearly visible.

However, seven MPs are independent, who have not yet supported anyone. Apart from this, Swati Maliwal and Aam Aadmi Party have not revealed their cards.
