New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with t a delegation of his party MPs on Wednesday evening visited the riot-hit areas in Northeast Delhi and said hate and violence are enemies of development and divisiveness being spread will not benefit ‘Bharat Mata’. He also said that the violence benefits no one and it only harms people and Bharat Mata. As the Congress leader returned from Italy, two separate delegations of his party leaders visited different areas in northeast Delhi and assessed the situation.

One delegation led by Rahul Gandhi included KC Venugopal, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, K Suresh, Mukul Wasnik, Kumari Selja, Gaurav Gogoi and Randeep Surjewala. These leaders visited a private school in the Brijpuri area of northeast Delhi that was vandalised and burnt during the riots.



After visiting the school, Rahul said this (school) is India’s future. “Hate and violence have destroyed it. Nobody has benefited from this. Violence and hate are enemies of development,” he added further.

During the violence, the 32-year-old Arun Modern Public Senior Secondary School suffered massive damage. The Congress delegation visited the gutted classrooms and assessed the burnt busses.

The Congress delegation also visited a mosque near the school that was also affected in the violence. As per updates, the Delhi Police asked Gandhi not to go beyond the Brijpuri Nullah.

Another delegation of the Congress including MPs left in a bus from the Kerala House and included Hibi Eden, Gurjeet Singh Aujla and Abdul Khaleque.

The visit to the riot-hit areas comes after the Congress earlier in the day demanded an immediate discussion on the issue of communal riots in Delhi in the in Parliament.
