Vipul Shah Announces New Film ‘Namastey England’ Sequel to ‘Namastey London’
Long before Katrina Kaif became Bollywood’s favorite glam-girl, she played the role of Jasmeet “Jazz” Malhotra in Vipul Shah’s 2007 film “Namastey London.” Paired with Akshay Kumar (playing the role of Arjun Singh), Kaif impressed critics and viewers alike with her performance as the headstrong NRI who found herself falling for Kumar’s Punjabi Arjun despite her insistence on marrying her all-British boss Charlie Brown (no Snoopy jokes intended, believe it or not).

**Spoiler Alert
“Namastey London” ended up being a huge hit, thanks in part to both the winning soundtrack, the great performances and the much-loved storyline, where the desidilwala finally got his dulhania despite all the odds being against him. Shah’s non-villainizing reflection of the effect of western ideals on traditional Indian values turned “Namastey London” into an interesting watch for both NRIs and resident Indians alike when it released in 2007.
Now, just over eight years since the release of “Namastey London,” Shah has announced his plans to create a sequel to one of my personal favorite movies.
Some sources suggest the movie will be called “Namastey England,” and will again be shot across Punjab and London. Kumar is allegedly already on board, but the buzz is mixed as to whether Kaif will be back for the sequel. At this point, it remains unclear as to whether “Namastey England” will tell the story of Arjun and Jazz after their marriage, which is where “Namastey London” left off, or whether it will be an entirely new story altogether.
Either way, here’s hoping that Shah does not disappoint any “Namastey London” fans with his planned sequel!
