Putin India visit LIVE: What is the main focus?
The 23rd India–Russia Summit will mainly look at making defence cooperation stronger, protecting India–Russia trade from outside pressure, and discussing possible work together on small modular nuclear reactors, according to PTI.
India is also expected to raise its worry about the growing trade gap with Russia, which has increased because India buys a lot of Russian crude oil.
Putin’s visit comes at an important moment. Heavy U.S. tariffs on India, linked to India’s oil purchases from Russia have created tension between New Delhi and Washington. The effect of these tariffs on India’s energy imports will likely be a key topic during the talks.
