Watch: Anti-CAA Protests March Towards State Secretariat in Chennai

New Delhi: A day after the Madras High Court restrained a few Muslim outfits of the state to hold a protest march, thousands of protesters poured on to the street on Wednesday and walked towards the state Assembly. Agitators carrying placards against CAA, NRC, NPR besides the Indian flag, converged at Chepauk as part of their original plan. Scores of Muslim women, too, joined the agitation.

Earlier, protesters converged at Chepauk here, resulting in traffic congestion at key points on the arterial Anna Salai.

Security had been beefed up in and around the Secretariat.

Anti-CAA protests were held elsewhere in the state, including Madurai and Tirunelveli, with members of the Muslim community hitting the streets against the Citizenship Amendment Act.
