New Delhi: Massive traffic jams and waterlogging were reported in several parts of the national capital after heavy rains lashed the city. Latest visuals showed parts of the city receiving heavy rainfall, giving much respite from the heat. Several areas including ITO got waterlogged and caused traffic jams in the area. The areas that received heavy rainfall included Civil Lines, Laxmi Nagar and Lajpat Nagar.
The IMD earlier in the day predicted heavy to moderate rainfall in several parts of the national capital. The relative humidity in the national capital was 85 per cent around 8:30 AM on Friday and the maximum temperature is expected to settle at 35 degrees Celsius, the IMD said.

The water level in Yamuna River was flowing above the danger mark of 205.33 metres after it had shown a receding trend in the last few days. As per the Central Water Commission, the water level at the Old Railway Bridge has been hovering around the danger mark after reaching an all-time high of 208.66 metres on July 13.
The water level breached the threshold again on Thursday after heavy rain in parts of the national capital, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. As per the Central Water Commission, the level at the Old Railway Bridge stood at 205.99 metres at 9 pm and is expected to reach 205.65 metres by Thursday evening.
In the meantime, the Hindon river in Noida recorded water level at 196.55 metres at 9 AM on Friday after recording the Highest Flood Level (HFL) at 197.28 metres on Wednesday.
Notably, the national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 26.6 degree Celsius, a notch above normal, while registered 85% of relative humidity at around 8:30 AM.
The IMD further added that the national capital is expected to witness generally cloudy skies during the day and moderate rain is likely in parts of the city. The wether office also said the maximum temperature in the national capital is expected to settle at 35 degrees Celsius, the IMD said.
With light to moderate rain forecast, the IMD has also issued a ‘yellow’ alert for some parts of the city. The yellow alert calls for being aware of the possibility of waterlogging and traffic disruptions.
It should be noted that since the onset of the Monsoon, several states have received heavy rainfall causing major damage to the lives and properties. Some of the states that have received heavy rainfall include Telangana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir.
Heavy rain have disrupted the lives of people in Mumbai as several areas of the city faced waterlogging and traffic jams. The IMD has also issued a ‘yellow’ alert for Mumbai, predicting heavy rainfall at isolated places on Friday.
