Taking a dig at the Modi government, the Patna Sahib MP said why former prime minister Manmohan Singh was called “Mauni Baba” when the present leadership is maintaining a stoic silence on crucial issues. “Is it true that India has 13 of the 20 most polluted cities in the world? Wonder why we called our learned former PM “Mauni Baba”. Our own leadership is maintaining stoic silence and keeping mum on all crucial issues like farmers’ suicides, widespread unemployment, job losses, the great pollution crisis from Delhi to our own Patna,” Sinha tweeted. Sinha said it is high time and right time for the Prime Minister to speak up on the issues discomforting the democratic setup. In a series of tweets, Sinha said, “Nor do we hear a word being said to address burning issues like Padmavati, growing vigilantism, or the discomfort being caused in our democratic setup by emergence of Raid Raj, arbitrary downgrade of security of a mass leader Lalu Yadav (just before Gujarat elections), steps against the challenge called Arvind Kejriwal…Don’t get me wrong. We admire you Sir! But please speak up, show us light, guide us. It is High time & right time. Jai Hind!”

Even the Opposition has attacked the Prime Minister and his government over these demanding an answer from him time and again. The Opposition is also likely to corner the government over these issues in the Winter Session of Parliament.

While the Prime Minister has issued warnings to cow vigilantes, it seemed to have fallen on deaf ears. And on majority of issues like controversy revolving around ‘Padmavati’ wherein actress Deepika Padukone and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali were given death threats, there has been no word from him.

Ahead of the Gujarat Assembly elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad’s security has been downgrading to ‘Z’ category. The Centre had withdrawn Lalu’s ‘Z+’ VIP security cover of NSG commandos, evoking an angry reaction from the RJD chief and his sons.
