New Delhi, April 20: Dismissed Border Security Force (BSF) jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav, whose video complaining about poor food quality in BSF became viral a couple of months back, said that the Government must listen to what he has to say. Speaking about his dismissal from the force, he said that he is not asking for a salary hike or better amenities, but instead for good food and holidays on time.
Earlier, Yadav said that he will seek help from the Government and take action against his dismissal. In case the Government is not able to take any action, he said he will move to court to seek justice. This in a way shows that Yadav is ready to go the extra mile and seek help from the court.
Tej Bahadur Yadav was dismissed by the BSF reportedly on the basis of a staff court of inquiry (SCoI) and as per the inquiry, Yadav, who was a constable-ranked jawan was found guilty of making false charges. Apart from that according to a senior official, he was also found guilty on certain charges of indiscipline including uploading of the video in violation of laid down procedures and rules.
Following the video that went viral earlier this year, the Prime Minister’s Office asked for a detailed factual report regarding the claims from the Union Home Ministry and the BSF. Even a PIL was filed in the Delhi High Court which sought to direct the government to depute higher officials to supervise the food and its distribution. It also issued notice to various paramilitary forces, including the BSF and sought their opinion on the allegations of serving substandard food to the soldiers.
Yadav in his initial video claimed that the food served to them were of substandard quality and requested the Prime Minister to listen to his woes. He leveled charges of corruption within the force and said that the money which was sent for food could have been misappropriated.
However, following a thorough investigation, it was claimed by the authorities that Yadav made false claims. Soon after this, he claimed he felt his life was under threat.
Notably, Yadav’s tactic of using a video to request to the PM, became famous as soon another similar incident of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldier did something similar to what Yadav did.
