An 18-year-old girl has lodged an FIR against Arjuna awardee table-tennis player Soumyajit Ghosh in Barasat of West Bengal for allegedly raping her on pretext of marriage.
The girl has filed a complaint against the Arjuna Awardee.
Barasat, Mar 22: An 18-year-old girl has filed a complaint against Arjuna awardee table-tennis player Soumyajit Ghosh in Barasat of West Bengal for allegedly raping her on the pretext of marriage. As per the complainant, the couple was in a relationship for three years. The accused promised to marry her, but refused later, the victim said.
“We were in a relationship since last 3 years, during which he raped me. He also promised to marry me, but refused later,” she said.

The police have registered an FIR against Ghosh and are investigating the matter.

According to a report in TOI, the girl and Ghosh met each other on a social networking site. In her complaint, she asserted that the duo used to meet each other in person at her residence in Barasat (when her parents were not present there) and also at the accused’s house in Siliguri.
The girl reportedly got pregnant once and had to undergo an abortion as well. Her parents said that Ghosh was avoiding her and turning to police was the only option left for them.
