Kolkata, April 2: Lashing out at the Trinamool Congress government for allegedly ushering in a reign of terror in West Bengal, Leader of Opposition and CPI(M) State Secretary Surya Kanta Mishra today said his party shared the views of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on TMC and BJP.
“We are also saying the same thing what he has said. The TMC in last five years has established a reign of terror in Bengal. They have destroyed everything that the Left had established in Bengal. Its high time that this government be ousted and a new government of Left, secular and democratic forces comes to power,” Mishra told reporters when asked to react on Gandhi’s comment.
Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gandhi in an election campaign today accused him of trying to kill democracy in the country and claimed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was doing the same in West Bengal.(ALSO READ:West Bengal Assembly Elections 2016: BJP announces fresh list of 194 candidates for West Bengal polls).
Mishra urged the people to cast their votes in favour of Left and Congress alliance candidates. The first phase of elections will start in the state from April 4.
“After May 19 (when the poll results will be declared) she (chief Minister Mamata Banerjee), will be known as former chief minister,” Mishra said.
