New Delhi: A college girl has filed a police complaint after she allegedly received an invite to participate in ‘Momo Game’ challenge, a new virtual suicide game. The incident is reported from West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri. Reportedly, the ‘Momo Game’ is said to be a successor of the notorious ‘Blue Whale Game’ and has made headway in several countries.
According to the complaint, the first year college girl said that she had posted on the social media after she had a small fight with her mother during the day. She posted that she wished to take her own life. Soon, she received a Whatsapp message over her mobile phone from an unknown number allegedly inviting her to take the Momo Game challenge.
When she tried to know the sender’s identity, the person revealed it verbally, she claimed. Scared over the situation, the girl said that she had informed her elder brother, who warned her against participating in the game.
She then informed the police. An investigation has been launched, the police said.
What is a challenge all about?
In this Momo Whatsapp suicide game, messages from a certain number are forwarded which leads to suicidal tendencies at the end of the game- just like the Blue Whale challenge. A girl’s distorted face with protruding eyes and wide mouth appears when you’re Whatsapp-ed from a certain number and the game begins.
