New Delhi: Reacting to reports of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee being hailed as ‘Jhansi ki Rani’ of the modern times by her party, Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Friday said the West Bengal Chief Minister could be “Putana” (demoness) but not ‘Jhansi ki Rani’. The BJP leader further compared Banerjee with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. (Also read: ‘Hindus Losing Patience,’ Says Singh)
Singh asserted that Mamata was breaking India, hence, she could not come even an inch closer to the character of ‘Jhansi ki Rani’.
“Shayad Jhansi ki Rani ke upar ye gaali hai. Ye Putana (demoness) ho sakti hain Jhansi Ki Rani nahi ban sakti hain. Ye Kim Jong Un ho sakti hain,” ANI uploaded a video of the Union Minister as saying.
Following Banerjee’s dharna over the CBI action against Kolkata police chief, the Trinamool Congress had said that she was modern day “Jhansi ki Rani” and warned the BJP-led Centre that she will not be intimidated by “attacks” as she had people’s support.
Talking to ANI, Singh added that a woman who supported Rohingyas and illegal immigrants could never be compared to Jhansi ki Rani and even thinking about this comparison was an abuse.
Earlier also, Singh had compared Banerjee to Kim Jong-un after the state government denied permission to the BJP to carry out rath yatra and had said that WB was the only state in the country which had no place for democracy.
He alleged that like the Korean leader, Banerjee also killed everyone who raised his voice against her. The TMC and the BJP have been at loggerheads ever since the saffron party couldn’t carry out its rath yatra in the state. Prominent leaders like UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also was denied permission to land his chopper in the state.
