New Delhi, Nov 8: In an ugly incident, a passenger was thrashed, pushed to the ground by IndiGo Airlines staff at Delhi Airport recently. The passenger, identified as Rajeev Katiyal, claimed that he was manhandled by the IndiGo staff after he asked them to arrange a third bus to get to the airport terminal. Also Read - Delhi Airport's Forecourt Waterlogged, 5 Flights Diverted Due to Downpour | Read Details
“I was standing in the shade of a plane when a ground staff started shouting at me in a very rude manner. I asked him why don’t you arrange the third bus for which we are waiting. Meanwhile, when the bus came two people said let’s teach him a lesson and one of them pulled me out of the bus,” the passenger, identified as Rajeev Katiyal, told a television channel. However, a new video has now emerged which shows the airline ground staff urging the passenger not to abuse them. Rajeev Katiyal is then seen trying to get into the bus parked nearby but was stopped by the staff. It was precisely at this moment when a scuffle between the passenger and IndiGo staff broke out.

Staff: Bhai…baat suno…gaali dene ka koi matlab nahi (You can’t abuse us.)
Passenger: Gaali kya…main idhar khada hoon…ye keh rha idhar aa jaao…udhar aa jao…tum apna kam to karlo yaar. Ek to apna kam kar nahi rahe aur keh rhe gali de rhe.(I am not abusing. I have been standing here and this person is nagging me, asking me to move out.)
Staff: Aap apne umr ko dekhke ke gaali do. Gaali kaise de rhe ho (At least, look at your age. You can’t abuse us.)
Passenger: Ajeeb aadmi ho…ek to apna kaam nahi kar rhe aur mujhe bol rhe ho Baahar aa jao…btata hoon (Do your duty properly. Come out and I will tell you all.)
At this point one of the members of ground staff is heard asking his colleagues to stop the passenger from boarding the bus.
Staff: Oye! rok le isko…bahar ki kya baat ho gayi isme. Rok lo..rok lo yehin rok lo. (Stop him…stop him here.)
The video then shows an IndiGo staff taking the passenger away from the bus. The passenger then suddenly charges towards another staff and grabs his face shouting,”How did you push me.”
At this moment, the passenger is overpowered, pushed to the ground by ground staff. “How dare you…how dare you,” the passenger is heard shouting as a couple of IndiGo employees try to end the scuffle.

IndiGo President Apologises
IndiGo President and Whole Time Director Aditya Ghosh apologised and said stern action was taken against the staff.
An IndiGo statemnet quoted Ghosh as saying he had apologised to the passenger.
“I acknowledge the unpleasant experience our passenger went through, while engaging with our staff at Delhi airport. My personal apologies as this does not reflect our culture. I had personally spoken to the passenger and asked for an apology,” a statement from IndiGo quoted Ghosh.
IndiGo President also said that the airline had inquired into the incident and action was taken against the staff, he said without specifying what measure was taken.
Meanwhile, according to media reports, Montu Kalra, an IndiGO ground staff, who was said to have shot the video, was sacked after the incident.
