Mumbai, Apr 5: Popular messaging app, WhatsApp, has rolled out a new Beta update for Android smartphones. The new Beta update from WhatsApp brings a ‘Locked Recordings’ feature that lets users record voice messages hands-free within the app. The ‘Locked Recordings’ feature is already available for iPhone users. The ‘Locked Recordings’ feature, under the latest WhatsApp Beta update for Android with version 2.18.102, enables a user to lock the voice message recording. It simply means a WhatsApp user don’t need to keep the mic pressed on till you record your entire message.
Earlier, a WhatsApp user has to tap and hold the recording button until the completion of the recording. With the new beta update, users will have an option to listen to the voice recording before sending it. Once you install the update, you just need to do is press the recording mic for 0.5 seconds, then slide up your finger at the lock symbol appearing above. After you are done with the recording, you can either send it or delete it. The ‘Locked Recordings’ feature was internally tested last year.
WhatsApp recently rolled out a new feature in a Beta update that will soon enable iOS, Android and Windows Phone users migrate their data to a new number without much hassle. The new “Change Number” feature update is currently available in the 2.18.97 Android Beta update on Google Play Store. It will come in iOS and Windows devices later. WhatsApp now has 1.5 billion monthly active users (MAUs) who are exchanging nearly 60 billion messages on a single day. It has over 200 million users in India.
