Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Tuesday made headlines after he said that when ducks swim, they raise the oxygen level in water bodies. Although, few scientists do agree with the observation made by the Chief Minister. “When ducks swim, they recycle water automatically and fish get more oxygen. Fish also benefit from duck droppings. This will help pisciculture and fish grow faster, that too in a completely organic way,” Biplab Deb was reported as saying during an inauguration of a boat race in Rudrasagar on Monday.

Further, a video is also doing the rounds of social media where Deb reveals about Tripura government’s decision to distribute ducklings to fishermen of Neermahal. He also talks about duck-rearing as a way to boost the rural economy.

Earlier, Tripura CM was in the limelight for another faux pas. While speaking at a function marking the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore in Udaipur, Biplab Deb said that Tagore, an Indian writer, and poet had given away Nobel prize award to protest the misrule of Britishers, reported DNA. He was reported as saying that Gitanjali had conferred the world’s best award to Tagore. However, the reality is that Tagore received his Nobel Prize for Gitanjali, which is his collection of poems.
