New Delhi, July 19: Wife and daughter of top bureaucrat BK Bansal were found dead at their residence in Delhi located in Madhu Vihar region. Both of them were found dead in separate rooms by the team of Delhi Police which arrived on the scene. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. Bansal is the Director General of Corporate Affairs, and thereby enjoys the rank of additional secretary in Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The tragic demise of Bansal’s wife and daughter comes at a time when the bureaucrat is in the custody of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He was arrested by the CBI for allegedly taking bribe from a Mumbai-based pharmaceutical company, which was found violating norms. CBI arrested Bansal, along with a private person identified as Vishwadeep Bansal from a hotel in Mumbai where he was being offered the bribe amount of representatives of Elder Pharmaceutical, the company which came under the ministry’s scanner for allegedly violating the rules. As per the case registered against him, Bansal has been booked by CBI under sections 7 and 12 of Prevention of Corruption Act (1988). According to sources involved in the case, Bansal had earlier demanded a bribe of Rs 50 lakh. However, it was further negotiated and brought down to Rs 20 lakh.
