Wife Grows Beard, Has Manly Voice: Ahmedabad Man Moves Court Seeking Divorce; Plea Rejected

The man contended that the woman’s family duped him by not telling him that she had facial hair and manly voice.

Ahmedabad, June 19: In a bizarre incident, a man from Ahmedabad moved court seeking divorce to his wife on the grounds that she has a beard and masculine voice. His plea was struck off by the family court.

In his petition before judge N M Karovadiya, the man contended that the woman’s family duped him by not telling him that she had facial hair and manly voice.

The man said that when he first met the woman before marriage, she was wearing a veil, and he didn’t seek to see her face as it would have been against the tradition.

Replying to the plea, the woman said that she had some facial hair due to hormonal reasons, which could be removed through treatment.

She further alleged that her husband was citing false reasons to get divorce in order to kick her out of the house.

After the wife’s lawyer made the submissions, the man didn’t turn up for further proceedings, prompting the court to dismiss his petition.
