Sirsa, Sept 28: The ‘Qurbani Wing’ of Dera Sacha Sauda on Wednesday issued a threat letter to kill journalists, former Dera followers, and Haryana police officers if they speak against rape convict self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim. “Will kill all opposing Gurmeet Ram Rahim,” the threat letter read. At least 200 children of Dera, who are ready to commit suicide, will take revenge from people who spoke against Ram Rahim, the letter stated.
The letter has also mentioned names of some of the media houses that have apparently spoken and written against Dera chief Ram Rahim after he was convicted by a Panchkula court in two separate rape cases and was sentenced to 20 years in jail. Coming out in defence of Ram Rahim, the letter accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and Manohar Lal Khattar government of cheating Dera Sacha Sauda. A Zee News report said that the letter was sent to several media offices in Chandigarh, Punjab. A report said that the police have announced to launch a probe the authenticity of the threat letters allegedly issued by the suicide wing of the sect.
In August, the arrested Dera followers made a shocking revelation about the sect’s ‘Qurbani Wing’, recruited by Ram Rahim, set up to deal with extreme situations when their chief was in trouble. “The arrested men have told that they wanted to sacrifice themselves for the Dera chief and were part of the Qurbani wing,” a police officer told India Today.
