Mumbai, Mar 21: Reacting sharply to Maharashtra Advocate General Shreehari Aney’s statement supporting a separate Marathwada, Shiv Sena today said it would not be a part of cabinet meetings nor would it let the legislature function till he is sacked for indulging in “treason”. “Under any circumstances, the Chief Minister has to remove Aney from his post because he has indulged in treason. Unless he is ousted, the Sena won’t let the House function. We have also decided that we will not be a part of any cabinet meetings (till then),” senior Sena leader and environment minister Ramdas Kadam said. Kadam claimed that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had assured him that a decision on Aney will be taken by tomorrow morning. “The matter cannot stop with Aney’s resignation. As he has indulged in treason (“Raj-droh”), appropriate legal action should be taken against him.
Once the CM sacks him, we will take up the matter with him. He (Aney) is a man who is bent on breaking up the state. He cannot be allowed to go scot-free,” Kadam said. Aney, at an event in Jalna district yesterday, said Marathwada had suffered more injustice than Vidarbha and should therefore be a separate state. His statement led to an uproar in the Maharashtra legislature today.
