Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday dedicated to the nation the “longest railway platform in the world” at Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji Hubballi Station near here. The record has been recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records recently, officials said, adding that the 1,507 m long platform has been built at a cost of about Rs 20 crore.

Moreover, the long platform can be a help for Railways as it can now operate trains simultaneously in two directions.

The Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji Railway station Hubballi, now the longest railway station of the world is an prominent junction in Karnataka. Serves as a major hub of trade and commerce in the North Karnataka region, the station is situated on the junction connecting railway lines towards Bengaluru (Davanagere side), Hosapete (Gadag side), and Vasco-Da-Gama/Belagavi (Londa side).
