Lucknow: In what turned out to be a damp squib for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, his smart tweet against SP-BSP alliance in the state for the coming Lok Sabha elections drew a sharp retort from his predecessor Akhilesh Yadav.

And all because Yogi tweeted in English. Accusing Akhilesh and BSP chief Mayawati of indulging in nepotism, Yogi tweeted, “People of Uttar Pradesh will cock-a-snook at ‘Bua and Baba’ Alliance. Time for casteism, nepotism and corruption is over now and politically vigilant people of UP will make sure that 5 multiplied by zero results into zero this time.”

Minutes later, the Samajwadi Party chief retorted, in Hindi, asking the CM to explain ‘cock a snook’. He quipped that he could not understand the usage of “cock a snook” and asked the CM to explain it in Hindi instead. He even asked Yogi to show them how one cocks a snook so that people know what they are supposed to do.

For the Lok Sabha polls, the SP has joined hands with the BSP and RLD in Uttar Pradesh. The alliance has, however, decided not to field candidates from the Congress strongholds of Rae Bareli and Amethi, the constituencies of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi respectively. Of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state, the BSP will contest 38, SP 37 and RLD three seats.

Mayawati has been vehemently refused to have any truck with the Congress.
