Lucknow, May 18: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath laid off two officials on Friday for allegedly leaking the details of his meeting with Mulayam Singh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party founder. The two officials who were sacked are CM’s Personal Secretary Pitambara Yadav and Personal Assistant to Chief Secretary to CM, Shishupal. In the wake of the Supreme Court’s order asking former CMs to vacate their official residences, a 30-minute-meeting was held between Mulayam Singh Yadav and CM Yogi. In the meeting, Yadav recommended that he and his son Akhilesh’s house should be allotted in the name of leaders of opposition in Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council, Ram Govind Chaudhary and Ahmad Hasan respectively. On Thursday, the UP government issued noticed asking six former CM’s to vacate official bungalows in 15 days as per Supreme Court’s mandate. Those who have been given notices include Narayan Dutt Tiwari, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Kalyan Singh, Mayawati, Rajnath Singh and Akhilesh Yadav; they have been occupying prime government properties in the high-security VVIP zone in Lucknow. The Apex court in its order made it clear that “once a Chief Minister demits office, he is also a common citizen”. Earlier, former CMs could retain bungalows till their lifetime; however, the law has been quashed by the Supreme Court now.
