New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday addressed a gathering organised at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National University, Lucknow on the occasion of Panchayati Raj Diwas. While speaking at the event, Yogi said that Panchayats are the base of India. They need to be developed first for the development of the country.
Showering praise on prime minister Narendra Modi for Swachch Bharat Abhiyan and cashless economy, Yogi said that the first cashless transaction was done years ago when Lord Krishna had helped his friend Sudama. He also asserted that only cashless transaction can end corruption.
“We will fulfil PM’s dream. The UP government has set a target to declare 30 districts ODF (Open defecation free) till Dec 31, 2017, and entire state till Oct 2018. The govt. has also decided to make UP roads pothole free by June 15,” the CM said while addressing the event today.
Promising better power supply in Uttar Pradesh, CM Yogi Adityanath said,”State govt aims to provide electricity to every poor household till 2018.” Speaking about the prohibition of red beacons, Yogi asserted that the ‘lal battis’ are against our culture and in democracy ‘janata’ (public) is ‘VIP’. Issuing a notification on Saturday, Yogi Adityanath’s government had put a stop to the use of red and blue beacons with immediate effect. Yesterday, Adityanath’s government barred all its officials from using red and blue beacons and also decided to lessen the strength of security provided to VIPs.
Emergency services like fire brigade, ambulances, vehicles of armed forces and police will be exempted from this ban. The decision to end the VIP culture taken by the Union Cabinet will be implemented from May 1.
