Following are the 10 key updates on CM Yogi Adityanath’s oath taking ceremony:
Following the swearing-in ceremony, PM Modi, using his usual pun-intended tweets, tweeted out his support for the new CM and said that he has immense confidence that this new team will leave no stone unturned in making Uttar Pradesh ‘Uttam Pradesh’. He also said that their sole mission and motive is development and when UP develops, India will develop.
I have immense confidence that this new team will leave no stone unturned in making UP Uttam Pradesh. There will be record development.
For the massive show of strength of the BJP,huge arrangements were made. While the stage was filled with around 100 people, there were more than a lakh people who attended the ceremony.
Yogi Adityanath on Saturday after the announcement said that as the chief minister, his focus will be to deliver on PM Modi’s development agenda and he would ensure good governance in Uttar Pradesh. Noteworthy, that Adityanath is often accused of being a polarising leader by his political rivals.
Yogi Adityanath was expected to hold a press conference after the oath taking ceremony. A cabinet meeting is also on the cards after the ceremony.
The cabinet ministers who took oath along with him are Satish Mahana, Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Sidharth Nath Singh, Chetan Chauhan, Rajesh Agarwal, Swami Prasad Maurya and Ashutosh Tandon among other cabinet members.
Stating that he was not dissatisfied with the decision of the party to make him the deputy CM instead of the CM, Keshav Prasad Maurya said that the party is like his mother and he would do anything that the party said. On being questioned the need for two Deputy CMs, he said that UP is a large state and so it must have been a considered decision to appoint two Deputy CMs.
Also Maurya’s counterpart Dinesh Sharma, took oath as the other Deputy CM. He is considered as a powerhouse of influence and is held responsible for taking the number of BJP members in the state from a crore to more than 11 crores.
Noteworthy, that neither the CM, nor the Deputy CMs are legislators from the state and hence they will have to stand for election within the next six months.
Appointment of Adityanath as the CM drew flakes from many opposition party leaders who believed that such a face of the CM is bound to polarise the political dynamics of UP. Soon after his appointment, Twitter users started tweeting out memes and comments on the new CM. The most popular of such meme is the one which links Yogi Adityanath to Hollywood actor Vin Diesel.
Reportedly Yogi was the youngest parliamentarian in 1998 after he was elected from Gorakhpur. He is also a member of the Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV), which has been linked and known to have handled strong-handedly issues of rioting and love jihad in the state. Following the appointment, senior leadership in the party are expected to raise the issue of banning slaughter-houses in the state.
