While, Mulayam Singh’s elder daughter-in-law, Dimple Yadav managed to win unopposed from the Kannauj constituency, wherefrom she was contesting the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, his younger daughter-in-law, Aparna Yadav had to face defeat in the Lucknow Cantt seat where she contested against BJP candidate Rita Bahuguna Joshi.

In September 2014,  Aparna Yadav visited Yogi Adityanath in Gorakhpur after the death of Mahant Avaidyanath. As per the reports, she had gone to Gorakhpur as part of her social development initiatives but she changed her itinerary after learning the demise of Mahant Avaidyanath.

Earlier too, a selfie of hers and Prateek Yadav along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi triggered a controversy within Uttar Pradesh’s erstwhile ruling party. She had then slammed the controversy by saying, “What’s wrong with that? He is everyone’s PM.”
