New Delhi: A day after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis asked party workers to prepare to fight alone in the state in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019, Shiv Sena asserted that the ruling party’s decision shows its arrogance.  “You don’t need Hindutvavadis. With these remarks, You have shown that you would rather enter into an alliance with EVMs,” said Sena, in an editorial in its mouthpiece ‘Saamana’.

Referring to BJP’s debacle in recently-held Assembly polls in five states, Sena said,”The people of the country have already started showing them the way, with the results of five state polls. This state will also show you defeat. We are used to attacking those who attack us.”

Sena also attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over reported job losses in 2018 saying, “One crore nine lakh youth have lost their jobs. These figures by CMIE contradicting PM Modi’s claims. The hands of the youth which elected you to power, are now itching to pull you down,” a news portal quoted the saffron party as saying.

Earlier on Sunday, in a veiled warning to Sena, Amit Shah said that if an alliance is forged, the party will ensure victory for its allies, but if it did not, the party will defeat its former allies in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The BJP’s chief statement came immediately after Maharashtra CM Fadnavis set the BJP workers a target of winning 40 of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Shah and Fadnavis made the statement yesterday while addressing BJP workers from Latur, Osmanabad, Hingoli and Nanded districts in Latur city.
