Well, it’s official. Thanks to Ranveer Singh, Anil Kapoor and hosts Shahid Kapoor and Karan Johar, this year’s Zee Cine Awards were officially the most entertaining Bollywood awards show of the year.

Sure the awards given out accurately represented the great year that Bollywood had in 2015, but the Zee Cine Awards were all about the performances, the special guests, and the in between moments that always make awards shows all the more memorable. The telecast started out with a bang as Shahid Kapoor and Karan Johar proved they had all the chemistry needed to make the night a hit. They began with some friendly jabs at each other, including a knock on Johar’s recent acting debut in the anticipated-but-failed Anurag Kashyap film “Bombay Velvet” and a few jokes about Shahid Kapoor’s “Shaandaar,” and continued the night in spectacular fashion, joined at times by fellow charismatic hosts Sonakshi Sinha and Parineeti Chopra (Can we get this girl to do another movie soon? She’s brilliant!)

One of the most entertaining moments of the night came from Arjun Kapoor’s performance which including the new song “High Heels Te Nachche” which Kapoor performed in heels on the stage! Before the show began, reporters caught up with two of Kapoor’s dear friends in the Bollywood industry on the red carpet, Parineeti Chopra and Ranveer Singh, and the two expressed their excitement for the performance and their love for the song in rap form.

Kapoor himself posed on the red carpet before the show in his red high heels, and the performance itself was non-stop fun, especially when he was joined by Ranveer Singh!

Of course, Singh’s own performance did not disappoint, as it included his usual brand of energetic dancing and humor that only the actor can truly infuse in his own unique way. Seriously, there really isn’t anyone like him in Bollywood right now, and how great is that?

Another great performance of the night came from Sushant Singh Rajput, who like many Bollywood fans and actors, is a huge fan of Shah Rukh Khan. But instead of just sharing his love for the actor, Rajput took it one step further by performance a dance tribute to the actor. Khan was not in attendance at the Zee Cine Awards this year but at least his presence was felt thanks to Rajput. And there’s no doubt Khan appreciated what he saw.

In a truly unforgettable moment of the night, Akshay Kumar helped the Zee Cine Awards introduce a new category to their awards telecast-The Stunt Person of the Year award. The first award was given to the late Raju, who lost his life on the set of Kumar’s 1999 film “Jaanwaar” after losing control of a car during a stunt scene. Kumar gave Raju’s family a check for 11 lacs in a moving moment for the whole crowd, Raju’s family and Kumar himself.

And finally, we come to what might one of the greatest performances ever from the one and only… Anil Kapoor?

That’s right, the Bollywood and Hollywood star accepted the International Icon of the Year trophy with a heartfelt speech and had the most Jhakaas of Jhakaas performances, as he danced through some of his most famous songs, including ones from the blockbuster film “Ram Lakhan.” During his Ram Lakhan sequence, Kapoor told the younger generation of actors, “Boys, watch and learn, this is how it’s done.” He then brought onstage Ranveer Singh, his nephew Arjun Kapoor and Varun Dhawan to show them his iconic moves.
