Srinagar, July 12: Three terrorists were killed in an encounter in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. According to the latest reports, all three terrorists belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen. Out of the three, one terrorist has been identified as the resident of Srinagar. The report also suggests that all three were locals. Meanwhile, the search operation continues in the area. The security forces have made the recovery of the arms and ammunition and the bodies of the terrorists. The deceased terrorists have been identified as Javid Sheikh, Dawood Ahmad Sofi and Aaquib Gul.
Earlier on Tuesday evening, an encounter between terrorists and the security forces broke out in Radbugh area of Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on a tip off of terrorists being holed up in the area. The operation came a day after a bus full of Amarnath yatra pilgrims was attacked by five terrorists in which seven pilgrims, including five women, were killed and 15 others were injured. The bus was carrying 56 pilgrims.
The attack on the Amarnath pilgrims took place on Monday evening in Anantnag. It has been condemned by political leaders across the globe. According to eyewitnesses, the shots were fired from the front and right side of the bus. Meanwhile, the Central Government has announced a compensation of Rs 7 lakh for the family of deceased and Rs 2 lakh for those who were injured during the deadly attack.

Various media reports suggest that the five terrorists who killed seven Amarnath Yatra pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday night, chased the bus on two motorcycles. Reportedly, Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists led by Abu Ismail were behind the attack, a senior police official has claimed.
