Kargil Vijay Diwas: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid rich tributes to the Indian soldiers martyred during the 1999 Kargil War, and stated that Pakistan has not learnt any lessons from history, and the neighbouring country has faced defeat whenever it dared to carry out any misadventure against India.
The Prime Minister paid tributes to soldiers on Kargil Vijay Diwas in the remote Dras town region in Kargil, and said the sacrifices made by the Indian troops are immortal. Launching a blistering verbal attack on Pakistan, Modi said the neighbouring country is trying to remain relevant through terror and proxy war but it has faced defeat whenever it has carried out any misadventure.
Modi vowed a crushing defeat for terrorism and said the nefarious designs of “patrons of terrorism” will never be allowed to succeed under his watch.
“Today, I am speaking from a place where masters of terror can hear my voice directly. I want to tell patrons of terrorism that their nefarious designs will never succeed. Our bravehearts will crush terrorism and enemy will be given a befitting response,” he asserted.
Notably, the prime minister’s remarks come in the backdrop of surge in terror incidents in Jammu region
Showering praises and tributes upon the Indian soldiers martyred in the 1999 Kargil War, Modi said “in Kargil, we not only won the war, we gave a wonderful example of truth, restraint and strength”.
The prime minister also said that India will defeat every obstacle in the development of Ladakh, and Jammu and Kashmir.
On July 26, 1999, the Indian Army announced the successful culmination of “Operation Vijay”, declaring victory after a nearly three-month-long battle on the icy heights of Kargil in Ladakh.
The day is observed as ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ to commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan in the war.
