M Karunanidhi Admitted to Hospital in Chennai, Likely to be Discharged by Afternoon

Chennai, Jul 18: DMK President M Karundanidhi (94) was admitted to Kauvery Hospital in Chennai on Wednesday for change of tracheostomy tube. The minister will be discharged later today after recovering from the procedure, a statement issued by the hospital read. As per the doctors on duty, all his parameters are normal.

Karunanidhi’s office, as quoted by a news report, said that it was just a one-day procedure. Adding further, it claimed that the DMK chief will be home either on Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.

The former chief minister of Tamil Nadu has been suffering from a lung disease. Earlier in 2017, the leader was admitted to Kauvery Hospital in Chennai and underwent the same procedure. In December 2016, he underwent a tracheostomy procedure. The minister has also been undergoing speech therapy.
