The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, May 31 won the crucial Palghar Lok Sabha seat defeating Shiv Sena’s Shriniwas Wanaga by over 29,000 votes while in Bhandara-Gondiya, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate Madhukar Kukde emerged victorious. Amid reports of malfunctioning of EVM-VVPATs during polling on May 27, the Election Commission (EC) ordered re-polling at 49 booths in Bhandara-Gondiya on May 30. Former Union minister Praful Patel claimed that almost 25 per cent of EVMs malfunctioned in Bhandara-Gondiya Lok Sabha seat.
