Kanpur, Mar 4 (PTI) The police has arrested a member of a gang that cheated people of their money by promising to get them jobs in the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC).

Rahul was caught yesterday by the job aspirants who later handed him over to the police. They alleged that he and one Aman Gupta had duped them of Rs 25,000 each on the pretext of getting them jobs in the LMRC, a police spokesman said.

More than 32 people registered a complaint against Rahul and Gupta, who is at large, at the Kakadev Police Station, he said, adding the victims claimed that the duo had cheated at least 250 people in Fatehpur and Kanpur.

The job aspirants caught Rahul from his house here after he did not turn up to take them to Lucknow for interviews with Gupta, the spokesman said.

The accused has been booked under relevant sections of IPC, he added.
