Mumbai- Ahmedabad bullet train: Starting from Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) area in Maharashtra, the Mumbai- Ahmedabad bullet train will be running at a top speed of 320 km/h integrating the economies of Mumbai, Vapi, Surat, Anand, Vadodara & Ahmedabad. Talking about the funding for the Rs 1,08,000 crore project, 81% of the total cost of the project will be funded by the Government of Japan through JICA. Mumbai- Ahmedabad bullet train: Stoppages

The bullet train project will have stops at 10 cities in between namely Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad and will terminate at Sabarmati. The entire journey will be completed in about 2 hours 7 minutes with limited stops (at Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad), which is substantially less than the time taken by conventional trains or road journeys.

About Bullet train stations

The new high-speed trains will run for longer travel times and therefore, steps have been taken to provide good restrooms, next to which will be nurseries for children. The new stations will also have locker facilities to store baggage for those doing day trip to cities. Additionally, the stations will also have business lounges for first class passengers.

The train stations will also have an inclusive design for Divyang passengers. The facilities for the differently abled passengers will include a wheelchair-friendly design, lowered ticketing counters with braille instructions, tiles on the floor for guidance, dedicated washrooms, braille buttons inside elevators are some of the features.

Safety protocols at Mumbai- Ahmedabad bullet train

The Mumbai- Ahmedabad bullet train will have twenty-eight (28) seismometers installed to ensure the safety of passengers and critical infrastructure during earthquakes. Based on Japanese Shinkansen technology, will detect earthquake-induced tremors through primary waves and enable an automatic power shutdown.
