Islamabad: A Pakistani bureaucrat reportedly stole the wallet of a Kuwaiti delegate who was visiting the country to attend discussion over investment proposals. The CCTV footage of the incident went viral on the internet on Saturday. In the video, the Grade 20 officer of the elite Pakistan Administrative Services can be seen picking up and pocketing the wallet of the Kuwaiti delegate at an event that was organised by the finance ministry. The theft came to light following Kuwaiti diplomat’s complaint after his wallet went missing, Dawn reported. Soon, the government official searched the premises and frisked the staff but could not find the missing wallet. However, after checking the CCTV footage the perpetrator was caught.
As per a report in Samaa TV, the accused Pakistani bureaucrat has been identified as Zarar Haider Khan.
Meanwhile, an inquiry has been ordered against him, the Dawn report claimed. “An internal inquiry was in progress against the bureaucrat and further action would be taken keeping in view its recommendations,” it said.
