Sopore Encounter: Two Pakistani terrorists belonging to the proscribed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror outfit, were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Sopore in Baramulla district of north Kashmir Friday, police said, adding that the slain duo were residents of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan’s Rawalpindi, respectively, who had infiltrated into the Kashmir Valley and entered apple town around a month ago.
In an official statement the Jammu and Kashmir Police identified the slain terrorists as Sanam Zafar, a resident of Mirpur in PoK, and Abdul Wahab from Pakistan’s Rawalpindi. They said the duo had infiltrated into Kashmir valley and are believed to have been hiding in the forests of north Kashmir for an unspecified time, before making their way to Sopore town around a month ago.
An encounter broke out between the terrorists a joint team of security forces during an anti-terror operation in Check Mohalla Nowpora of Sopore town on Thursday, police said.
