On this occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma took it to Instagram to remind us of the man’s importance in our nation’s history, and also of their next film, Sui Dhaga. The two described Gandhi in all his glory, calling him the first initiator of the Make In India movement. Sui Dhaga also happens to be a film based on Make In India.

This is the first time the Varun and Anushka are coming together for a film. Considering the promotions of the film that hasn’t gone on floors yet, and the film’s release still so far, it seems to not only be a big project, but an important one. A source told DNA, “Varun plays a labourer, a hired help in the film. His look in the film will be in-sync with his character. The film hopes to raise awareness about indigenous cottage industries here in India and also talks about the dignity of labour.” An insider also revealed how Varun was spellbound by director Sharat Katariya’s passion for the story: “Sharat is so passionate about the subject, his narration impressed Varun enough to say yes to the project.” Check out what they had to say on today’s occasion of Gandhi Jayanti:

The film is said to be in line with a government initiative pertaining to the Make In India campaign introduced by PM Narendra Modi. Another film that follows a government campaign is Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, which focuses on the ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign. Anushka and Varun’s film will go on floors early in January next year.
