Trouble refuses to die down for Samay Raina after the Maharashtra cyber cell summoned the YouTuber for the second time this week amid a row over podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia’s comment on the former’s YouTube show “India’s Got Latent”. While informing that he will return from the US on March 17, Raina has sought more time to respond to the summons.

Samay Raina along with other influencers stirred up the hornest nest after a video of his controversial comments on ‘parents having sex’ led to a massive debate on freedom of speech and what constitutes decency.

A short clip from the show, which is now viral, shows Allahbadia asking a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever.”

He posted a statement on X (formerly Twitter) addressing the issues that cropped up after Ranveer Allahbadia made a crass joke on his show. He wrote, “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all Indias Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you. (folded hands emoji).”

What is the case

On India’s Got Latent, Ranveer Allahbadia made a ‘joke’ that did not go down well with social media viewers. A formal complaint was filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission against Ranveer, Samay, Apoorva Mukhija and the show’s organisers. The complaint is against abusive language being used. The complaint also suggested that Samay’s intent were not clear.

Ranveer later apologised for his “inappropriate” remarks that were made in an “insensitive” manner during the YouTube episode of the show. However, the controversy is far from over.
