New Delhi: Union Minister Vijay Goel took out a cycle rally in east Delhi to point out the Aam Aadmi Party’s failure to check the alarming pollution levels in Delhi.

The senior BJP leader Vijay Goel took to social media account Twitter and said, “Led a cycle rally in protest of Kejriwal’s failure to provide clean air to the people of Delhi. Pollution level in Delhi is 5-7 times higher than the permissible limit, yet the only thing Kejriwal did in the past four years is odd-even drama for self-publicity!”

“Delhi is the world’s most polluted city, parents worry a lot about polluted air that their kids are breathing. They want clean air,” said Goel. He added that it’s high time that pollution becomes an election issue. He blamed the residents of Delhi for setting their priorities on obtaining full statehood.

He asked the Delhiites to vote for a party that takes bold measures to control pollution. The Union Minister was quoted by Times of India as saying, “AAP chose to campaign on the issue of full statehood for political gains. It (AAP) kept its political interest above its obligations to the people of Delhi.” He posed a question for the Kejriwal government,  “Powers in an environment, transport, education, etc. are vested with Kejriwal, if he couldn’t deliver in these areas, why does he need full statehood?”

Goel also slammed the AAP government for not taking adequate steps to curb the sources of pollution including industrial pollutants and vehicular emissions. According to him, pollution should be the major issue in the upcoming polls because as many as 10,000 people die every year in Delhi alone.
