SHOCKER: 11 Married Women Elope With Lovers In THIS Uttar Pradesh District After Receiving PM Gramin Awas Yojana Funds
Eleven women in THIS Uttar Pradesh district recently eloped with their lovers after receiving the first instalment of Rs 40,000 under the PM Awas Gramin Yojana housing scheme.
PM Awas Gramin Yojana: In a shocking incident, nearly a dozen married women reportedly eloped with their alleged lovers in Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh after receiving funds under the PM Awas Gramin Yojana– a central government housing scheme meant to provide financial assistance to poor and middle-class families in rural areas to build permanent houses.
According to a India Today report, the incident came to light after a man identified as Sanjay filed a missing report, stating that his wife, Suniya, had gone missing after she received Rs 40,000 as the first installment of the housing scheme.
Following Sanjay’s complaint, an investigation led by the local Block Development Officer (BDO) revealed that Suniya had eloped with another man along with the money she received in the first tranche of the PM Awas Gramin Yojana.
The investigation led to a shocking revelation, wherein it was discovered that besides Suniya, 10 other married women across several villages in the Maharajganj district, had allegedly eloped with their paramours after receiving the first installment of the government housing scheme.

It was revealed that Suniya and 10 other women were reported ‘missing’ by their husbands after receiving the funds, and had ran away with their lovers.
Reacting to the incident, Maharajganj district authorities assured strict legal action against the beneficiaries, ala the 11 women, for misusing the funds received under the PMAY scheme.
“We have taken cognizance of the incident wherein the first instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana was misused by 11 women who did not use it for building houses,” said Maharajganj District Magistrate (DM) Anunay Jha.
The DM said that he has directed the concerned department to take legal action against the beneficiaries and recover the funds.
Meanwhile, Sanjay’s father appealed the authorities to credit the remaining installments of the scheme to his son’s account.
“We appeal the government to credit the money in my son’s account. The first installment was sent to my daughter-in-law’s account who eloped with her lover and took the money with her,” he said.
As many as 2,350 PMAY beneficiaries in Maharajganj district, recently received the instalment of Rs 40,000 under the scheme.
