New Delhi: The Indian Railways, under the Modi government, has undergone a massive transformation. Over the past 10 years, the government has introduced a series of changes that have significantly enhanced passenger comfort. From improving platform cleanliness to introducing new trains, the sector has witnessed substantial progress. Indian Railways has always been the backbone of India’s transportation network, offering millions of passengers a comfortable, affordable, and scenic way to travel. However, in today’s fast-paced world, speed is just as important as convenience. Today, in this article, we will talk about the fastest train in India, which is providing a seamless, efficient, and modern journey.
The next in the list is the Gatimaan Express. Launched in the year 2016, Gatimaan Express is India’s first semi-high-speed train. The train can reach up to speeds of 160 km/h. The train connects Delhi with Jhansi via Agra, making travel to the Taj Mahal faster than ever. With luxurious interiors, bio-toilets, train hostesses, and gourmet meal services, it provides passengers with an airline-like experience on rail.
Shatabdi Express is also one of the fastest in India. Introduced in 1988, Shatabdi Express trains are daytime intercity trains that link major cities with state capitals. Known for short travel durations and high speeds of up to 150 km/h, these trains are ideal for business and leisure travellers alike. The Delhi-Bhopal Shatabdi Express holds the record as the fastest among them.
The Duronto Express series was introduced to facilitate non-stop long-distance travel between major cities, reaching speeds of up to 130 km/h. These trains ensure a seamless journey with minimal halts, superior catering services, and well-maintained coaches. Prominent routes include Mumbai-Delhi, Kolkata-Delhi, and Bangalore-Delhi.
